2011 New Ships
In 2010 we couldn’t stop hearing about Norwegian Epic, Celebrity Eclipse and Allure of the Seas. They were among the most anticipated ships in the past few years. The Epic boasted the award-winning Blue Man Group, Celebrity Eclipse had the iLounge and became the first Apple retailer at sea, and Allure of the Seas became the world’s largest cruiseship and even had its own Hollywood debut with Adam Sandler and Katie Holmes filming their movie “Jack and Jill” onboard.
This year among our list of new ships we have Disney Dream (Disney’s first new ship in more than ten years) and Oceania Cruises’ Marina leading the pack for most anticipated.
New Trends in 2011!
Staterooms Re-imagined: Suites that are at 2,500 square feet, Ralph Lauren furnished staterooms and more solo cabins are just some of the perks onboard cruiseships this year.
Sister Ships with a Twist: Sister ships debuting in 2011 have all the famed amenities of their predecessors, plus a few tweaks of their own. For example the Celebrity Silhouette, the fourth in the popular Solstice class, is getting a revamped Lawn Club with a new bar and Carnival Magic, sister to Carnival Dream, will feature a new waterslide, a ropes course – the first at sea - and the cruise line's first pub.
Discover River Cruising: 2011 will bring in seven new river cruiseships, perfect for introducing travelers to an intimate and charming style of cruising. Five of these ships will sail along Europe's Danube and Rhine Rivers. One has been custom designed for Southeast Asia's Mekong River, and another stationed on the Douro River.
